Properties

White flake crystal with special smell. Soluble in alcohol, ether, carbon disulfide, carbon tetrachloride, benzene, acetone, slightly soluble in acetic acid, insoluble in water. Non-dangerous, non-flammable.

Application

P-Bromobiphenyl is a key intermediate for many fine chemical products such as laser dyes, liquid crystal materials, pesticides, and medicines. Alkyl biphenyl and cyclohexyl biphenyl can be prepared by P-bromobiphenyl, and then the commonly used biphenyl cyanide liquid crystal compound can be prepared by introducing a cyano group. It can also be used as the starting material for the ultra-efficient rodenticides brodifacoum and bromodilone.
